Schedule

Dancing from 10:30am-noon at the Boston Children's Museum, 308 Congress Street, Boston.

Pub lunch afterwards, followed by more dancing if there is sufficient interest.

Massed Dances

Massed dances will be chosen from the following. (Yes, this is a large list. We certainly won't do all of these, but if someone requests one, it should come from this list.)

The links for tunes are to the Morris Ring archive, which shows the keys as collected in Lionel Bacon's Handbook of Morris Dances. These are not necessarily the keys we will play in--we will choose a key by consensus of the musicians, which in most cases will probably be G major/E minor.

Cotswold

  • Adderbury: Lads a Bunchum , South Australia
  • Bampton: Highland Mary
  • Bledington: Morningstar , Young Collins
  • Field Town: Balance the Straw , Old Molly Oxford (Step Back)
  • Headington: Constant Billy
  • Lichfield: Vandals of Hammerwich
  • Winster: Morris March (Processional)

Directions

The ale booklet includes directions to the dance stands, parking and lunch and dinner locations. If you had already downloaded and printed the previous version, please be aware that availability of parking in downtown Quincy and the location of the Doroty Quincy Homestead were incorrect in the earlier (draft) version. We will do our best to ensure that everyone has an updated copy of the directions.

Billeting

Out-of-town guests who need a place to stay have been billetted with members of Red Herring Morris and other Boston-area morris families. Contact us if you have not already heard from your host.

Meals

We will provide dinner at the Meet & Greet on Friday evening, a pub/restaurant lunch and catered dinner on Saturday, and a pub/restaurant lunch on Sunday. Breakfast for billeted guests will be provided by their hosts.

Food and soft drinks and one beer (for those over 21) will be provided with lunch, but guests will need to purchase any additional alcoholic beverages they want. Food and drink (including beer and cider) will be provided with dinner.

    • Teenagers (ages 13-20): $55
    • Children (ages 5-12): $35

T-Shirts

This year's T-shirt design is by Laura Bigler, and features the Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy, with the sidewalk reimagined as a herring pond.

The T-shirt order has already been placed. We have ordered a couple of extras, which we will sell at the ale on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Buttons

We will provide ale buttons with quotable quotes. If you're curious, you can read the collection of ale button quotes.

Weather

The weather forecast calls for partly sunny weather with a high of 81°F on Saturday, and rain, mainly after 11am on Sunday. We will dance under the large tent outside the Children's museum, so we will be able to stay dry.

In the event of light rain, we will dance as scheduled. If it rains heavily we have alternate plans with indoor locations. Watch this space as we get closer to the event.
